Key Topic:
Sustainable Enterprise Development Through Entrepreneurial Value Creation
("Entrepreneurial Sustainability")
“The
current financial and economic crisis will change how enterprises will be
managed in the future and what will be regarded as best practice in enterprise
management: We will experience a new focus on entrepreneuial sustainability.
The ability for sustainable enterprise development is essentially based on the ability to generate added value organically and to maintain this capability over market cycles. Investors, other important stakeholder groups, and the general public are paying increasing attention to whether and how a company is able to create original, sustained value for its own customers, investors, and stakeholders. So, corporate sustainability starts with economic sustainability - at least for businesses. The other two aspects, social and ecological sustainability, follow as a result, if you take sustainability serious in the company..
I
fully believe that the
capability for entrepreneurial sustainability is a key differentiator
and survival factor for companies and that it will be broadly regarded as a
cornerstone of enterprise management best practice in the future - after the consequences of the current financial and economic crisis have been digested
and its causes have been analysed and identified..
As
a result, it will become important for enterprises, their managers and their executives to not only secure their
companies’ ability to control and optimize their financials, but to integrate
all the aspects of sustainable value generation into enterprise management and
into the performance management control systems.

Key Topic: Financial Excellence - The CFO and Finance&Control
as True Business Partners
“Nowadays,
CFOs must be able to unite two very different tasks: on the one hand, they have
to make risks manageable and safeguard governance and compliance; on the other
hand, they have to identify channels for profitability and new growth while
actively contributing to the company's advancement.
This
cannot be achieved without a fundamental transformation of the finance&control
(F&C) function: of processes, systems, organization, and skills.
First of all, the transnational standardization of F&C processes throughout the enterprise by automating them to a large extent and consolidating back-office tasks into a shared services organization is reducing the load on local F&C business partners. The second step entails developing and qualifying local F&C business partners themselves, who gain a strategic significance for the successful implementation of the partly contrary CFO duties on an enterprise-wide basis.
These
developments, which are currently evident in many European enterprises, have a
significant impact on the future role and profession of CFOs and controllers and on
controlling itself as a discipline”.
